Two recently-published human clinical studies have provided evidence that an herbal complex containing Lady’s Mantle, cumin, wild mint, and olive leaf may offer a range of health benefits related to weight management and weight loss.
 
The newly-improved formula, marketed by Sprunk-Jansen as Weighlevel One, was first conceptualized a decade ago as a thrice-daily supplement formula, but has been put to the test in clinical studies as a once-daily, sustained-release herbal blend by adding propol for sustained release, creating a more convenient option for consumers.
 
The once-daily, sustained-release formula was most recently featured in a study published in the International Journal of Medicine this year, after first appearing in a clinical trial published in the European Journal of Medicinal Plants – the later trial was of similar design in order to confirm results observed in the first trial, which occurred in 2019 when the formula was in a thrice-daily formulation.  
 
Between the two trials, a total of 86 adults received either a placebo or the herbal complex, and researchers monitored the primary endpoints of weight, waist circumference, appetite, cravings, self-reported bowel health, and safety and tolerability. Both studies had an experimental period of eight years.
 
“All trials of the herbal blend conducted to date consistently demonstrate statistically significant and clinically meaningful weight loss,” Eli Kassis, MD, PhD, D.Med.Sc, cardiologist and co-author of both studies, said. “The ease of use of a once per day formulation is expected to improve adherence and provide meaningful improvements in weight-related health.”
 
“Until 2019, all of our research data had not yet been published. Now we have much more thorough clinical results to support our proprietary formula,” said Randi Kindem, Sprunk-Jansen marketing manager.
 
Accounting for the results of both clinical studies, Sprunk-Jansen said that the herbal formulation resulted in subject losing more weight than through dieting alone, was linked to significant reductions in BMI, and subjective measurements of appetite and cravings for sweets. Additionally, subjects in the supplementation groups of both studies lost 12 times more weight than placebo groups, and biomarker analyses suggested that the supplement supported a healthy metabolism.
 
The clinical trials each had no reported side effects, and the authors said that the supplement demonstrated a strong safety profile.
 
Kindem cited the American Psychological Association, which recently estimated that U.S. adults who were not at a desired weight at the start of the pandemic gained an average 29 pounds since, stating that the opportunity is prime for a convenient and effective botanical formula that supports multiple weight loss benefits.
 
“It is a patented control brand with a long history of technology and consumer insights, backed by and formulated to the specifications of significant published research. That equates to a faster time to market, whether Weighlevel One is used in tablets or capsules, and as a standalone product or in combination with other ingredients. Our clients are protected by our patents as well as our quality controls,” Kindem said.
